This is a VERY simple process all you need to do is in writing a cancel request showing the date you wish to cancel the policy. Then send it to your agent and I recommend sending it directly to the carrier as some agents unfortunately do not process it in a timely manner. If you have coverage in place with another carrier you can not be double insured so you can ask your current insurance agent to send the cancel request for you . Hope this helps
Brenda Hanson's answer is excellent in response to the one sentence question you posed. As she correctly suggested, you should send the cancellation request to both your agent and Travelers. It can be a simple "Please cancel the following policy number, effective (date)." You do not have to give a reason.
You should consider sending both notices by USPS Certified Mail and keep paper copies.
Obviously you need to make sure that you have arranged for replacement coverage, to concur with your requested cancellation date. Your agent should be able to help you with all of this. You do not want a gap in coverage dates. Under any circumstances, make sure you are not without coverage, If you have a mortgage, you need continuous coverage. No gaps.

The simplest way to cancel any insurance is to simply stop paying the premiums. The policy will lapse and be cancelled. If you've paid premiums in advance you may be able to get a partial refund if you write a letter formally cancelling the policy and requesting a refund of the unused portion of premiums paid. You will want to keep a copy of the dated letter and have the one you mail certified with a delivery receipt.
