Does the presence of a  Swimming Pool increase Home Insurance Premium?

Swimming Pools that belong to a Single Family Residence and are gated from public entry do not pose any additional hazard to an insurance carrier;  however, it is the insured's responsibility to disclose the fact that there is a pool.

Most carriers inspect each and every dwelling and will insist that there is no public access to the pool and the area is protected by a latched gate.   There may however exist an additional hazard associated with the swimming pool, the presence of a Diving Board or a Slide.   Each carrier has its own independent assessment on underwriting the risk;  there are some carriers that will not accept a home with the presence of a diving board or slide;  also, there are some carriers that will accept a slide only if  it is an in-ground slide for example built in a rockery type area sliding into the pool.

This whole topic is focused on the hazard that exists for the risk at hand.  Although, a pool will not generate a higher premium,  the circumstance may make the home ineligible for insurance with various carriers.
