This can happen, for example, any time a new development is being built but the street has not been processed and accepted by the Postal Service. Here in Connecticut, I have not found this to be a huge problem. The property on which your new home sits in fact has some designated identifying lot number assigned to it and recorded in your Town or City offices. If mail is the problem, you can always set up a Post Office Box so that you will receive your insurance documents in good order. I had personal experience with this many years back and it really did not take long for the wheels of the USPS to move their process along.

New developments are once again on the rise! A breath of fresh air to see modern homes being built again by major developers utilizing the most energy efficient methods. Many homes have solar power, LED lighting, efficient water heaters, state of the art security systems including cameras, and last but not least, interior sprinklers in many areas where required by code.

How to get a quote on a New Build where the address may not yet be recognized? This is a simple process, you may go online to: http://hda.stillwaterinsurance.com and attempt your online quote, if this doesn't work for any reason, you may contact the National Processing Office at: (877) 931-3368 and the wheels will be put in motion. If the latter is necessary and the home is within a month of completion, the turnaround time is generally 2 business hours for approval and release.

Addresses are necessary as location is a risk factor thereby affecting the premium rate or eligibility of insurance. Most carriers have a similar process; in some cases where you experience delays, it may be because the carrier hasn't yet assessed whether or not they will underwrite that particular area.
