Does Homeowners Insurance Cover The Furnace?
- 70 POINTSview profileJoseph LambrosOwner/Insurance Agent, Joseph Lambros Insurance Agency/Farmers, Mesa, ArizonaAll homeowners policies cover claims that result in the damage or destruction of covered property do to accidents. Your home policy does cover the damage to your home and personal property due to your furnace. But remember, the claim will not cover the repair or replacement of the furnace itself. Home insurance is not a repair and maintenance insurance. It only covers damage to your property as the result of an accident and will not cover the replacement or repair of items in your home. In general, however, if the damage is caused by a covered peril in your policy, then more than likely there would be coverage for such damage. Keep in mind, however, that a Home Insurance policy is not a maintenance agreement nor does it include coverage for normal wear and tear. In other woreds, if the liner fails resulting in water damage to your property or personal property, the water damage would be covered subject to your deductible, but not the repair or replacement of your furnace.Answered on October 13, 2015flag this answer
