   Homeowners insurance is designed to cover sudden and accidental losses and spilling paint on the carpet is a covered loss. Talk to your agent first to see what your deductible is and then you can decide if it makes sense to file a claim. If your deductible is $1,000 and the cost for new carpet is $1,200 it's probably not worth filing a claim.
