If your homeowners insurance policy is written on a special form which most polices are,  the damage caused by water from a bursting pipe is covered if there is damage to the dwelling or personal property. However the pipe itself is not covered for bursting or wear and tear. Consult your agent and/or policy for specifics on water damage.
