Homeowners insurance does cover solar panels as once they are installed they become part of the home. It is very important however that you notify your insurance company of the solar panels so the proper dwelling replacement amount is reflected on your policy. This would insure there are no problems should a claim arise  Keep in mind the solar panels are covered for the perils of the policy. Talk to your local agent about how your homeowners policy covers solar panels.
