With most insurance carriers that I am familiar with, Staffordshire Terriers (aka Pit Bulls) are an excluded breed of dog on their homeowners insurance policy forms. Most carriers have a list of ineligible dogs for which they will not extend coverage.
You need to contact your local agent and ask if your policy has a pet exclusion for "Pit Bulls". If it does, make sure to discuss with them your risks and your options.
