    A home security system, like ADT, generally will lower your home owners premium. So might other things like having a fire extinguisher, indoor sprinklers, bolted locks, and smoke detectors. Check with your agent or broker to find out what discounts they offer and that you are getting all of the discounts you deserve.

    Yes, monitored security systems do help you manage your Homeowners Insurance premium as companies usually offer a discount for these.  Be sure to ask your security company about including fire along with burglery protection for a more cmplete system and greater peace of mind.  In addition, always make sure your smoke and carbon monoxide monitors have fresh batteries and that you have sufficient and proper fire extinguishers.  Many insurance companies will reimburse you for teh cost of extinguisher recharging.
