Why does health insurance increase every year? Actually there have been times where this doesn't happen, but I would be harded pressed to remember. The thing that needs to be understood is health insurance premiums are a reflection of the cost of care rising. Most states office of the insurance commissioners have a ton of informtaion that can be accessed to review exactly how much an insurance company pays out.
I often describe insurance premiums much like my own checkbook. Each month money comes in and each month money goes out. I only hope at the end of the month, there is some left over.
