What’s The Point Of Health Insurance?
- 165 POINTSview profileShane BurtPresident/Senior Insurance Exec., Mid-American Insurance Associates, Olathe, KSJust like any other insurance, it's meant to cover you when an unexpected event causes financial loss. But, unlike most insurance, health insurance is now structured to cover expected events along with the unexpected events. For example, set co-payments for routine health exams and maintenance, and set emergency room costs, before you meet your deductible and the insurance kicks in. But overall, the point of health insurance these days, is to provide you with better access to higher quality of health care providers; which in turn leads to better health maintenance and prevention, and overall reducing your future costs of healthcare throughout your life. With health care costs continuing to climb due to our greatly aging and sickening society, it is important to have the best and most access to prevention and early detection of health risks, to reduce future health care spending as a whole.Answered on October 24, 2013flag this answer
