   Although there is no official definition of consumer-driven health care, the basic format usually involves a high deductible health insurance plan, an individually controlled health account, preventitive care at no cost to the policy holder, and sources of health information. Consumer-driven health care operates on he premise hat when the individual is more directly aware of the full cost of health care, he or she will weigh more carefully whether the care is needed and shop more carefully for that care.
