A health insurance network is a list of healthcare providers and facilities where you can go for medical evaluations and treatment and have the expenses covered by your health insurance plan with the least amount of cost to you. This is commonly referred to as being "in-network".
If you go to a healthcare provider or facility outside of the plan network, the care would be considered "out-of-network" and expenses incurred would not be covered by the plan, unless it's a medical emergency. Some plans will still provide coverage if you go to an out-of-network provider or facility, but you would be responsible for a larger portion of the expenses than if you went to an in-network provider or facility.
