What Do You Need To Get Health Insurance?
- 5527 POINTSview profileMarlin McKelvyPresident, Consumer Directed Benefit Solutions, Memphis, TennesseeIn the era of ObamaCare, all you need to get health insurance is the ability to fog a mirror and make your monthly premium payments. You also need to be a U.S citizen or legal resident. Underwriting with medical questions is no longer allowed so it's really a matter of selecting a health insurance plan that you want and completing and submitting your enrollment form. Please remember that the ability to purchase individual health insurance is now restricted to either; A) the annual open enrollment period which in 2014 begins on November 15th for an earliest effective date of coverage of January 1, 2015 or B) you experience a change of life status event such as getting married, divorced, having a child, losing other health insurance coverage and (this year) the renewal of your employer's group health plan can provide an opportunity to purchase individual health insurance coverage.Answered on July 9, 2014flag this answer
