Insurance is based upon the law of large numbers.  Your concern is legitimate; however, it is probably not shared by a large number of people.  In the face of a scheduled procedure you will find few companies who are willing to insure you against loss of vision.
That is not to say that you cannot get insurance. It might be available be through Lloyds of London.  Individual underwriters will assume all or part of the risk and will then tell you the price.  Brokers with access to Lloyd’s syndicates advertise.

That is a great question! While it is possible to get almost anything insured these days, once you've set the wheels in motion for surgery, it becomes really difficult to get the outcome of that surgery insured. Virtually every policy I've ever seen will ask if you have a planned procedure or surgery scheduled, and if so, will decline you. Their assumption is that if it is so bad that you are finally willing to go under the knife to get it treated, you are a bad risk, and therefore not worth it. Not the most personable attitude, but given their line of work, understandable. That said, I've had several family members who've had cataract surgeries done, and each came out with flying colors, and improved vision. I'm sure that you will too. Good luck, and thanks for asking!
