How Long Can I Carry My Child On My Health Insurance?
- 1575 POINTSview profileChristopher LawrenceInsurance Broker | Financial Consultant, Lawrence Insurance Consulting, Southern New JerseyThe ACA will expand dependent coverage to individuals through their 26th birthday. Simply put until one reaches the age of 27. They do not have to be listed as dependents in any other area to occupy this status on the health insurance policy, and may not be dependent on the individual for any reason (aside from the health insurance). After the age of 27 individuals who require special consideration (mental/physical that prevents them from being able to live indepedently) will be the primary focus with regard to any further extention.Answered on July 30, 2013flag this answer
