Can I Pay My Health Insurance Premiums With An HSA?
- 5527 POINTSview profileMarlin McKelvyPresident, Consumer Directed Benefit Solutions, Memphis, TennesseeYes and No. If you are under age 65 and have a Health Savings Account that you are funding you cannot use funds from your HSA account to pay for the premiums of the high deductible health insurance policy you have paired up with your HSA. The exceptions to this rule are if you become unemployed and need to access the funds to pay for your individual health insurance policy or for COBRA continuation coverage. If you are age 65+ then you are allowed to use funds from your HSA to pay for health insurance such as Medicare supplement policies.Answered on May 7, 2014flag this answer
