Anyone who wants to protect their income should get disability insurance.  DI pays a percentage of your income should you become sick or injured and unable to work.  The average American only has 90 days of cash reserves, so DI can help the insured maintain their lifestyle without having to drain their savings.

People who get paychecks get Disability Insurance. DI is insurance that pays you cash if you are unable to draw a paycheck due to an injury or illness that prevents you from being able to perform the duties of your job in a timely manner. People who rely on their paychecks get DI so that they have some income coming in during times of temporary or permanent disability.
