When Should I Drop Disability Insurance?
- 10968 POINTSview profileTim WilhoitOwner, Your Friend 4 Life, Brentwood TNThe appropriate time to drop disability insurance is when you and your loved ones are no longer dependent upon your income. This means you have built a nice nest egg or an ongoing residual income to last until your retirement income starts. Otherwise you should keep your disability coverage in place if you are still dependent upon your ability to work for your income.Answered on July 19, 2014flag this answer

Granted, you may no longer have children at home, but most people depend on their paycheck to pay bills or meet financial goals, regardless of how old they are. There really is no reason to drop it until you have to (i.e. no longer earning a paycheck).Answered on August 4, 2014flag this answer
