What Is An Elimination Period In Disability Insurance?
- 10968 POINTSview profileTim WilhoitOwner, Your Friend 4 Life, Brentwood TNThe elimination period on disability insurance is the specified period from which the disability is medically diagnosed and the insured is eligible to start receiving benefits. The longer the elimination period the lower the premiums. On short term disability insurance plans elimination periods can be as little as days or weeks. On long term disability plans can vary from 30-45-60-90-180-360 days. Most good disability plans do go back to day one and pay the entire period once the elimination period has been met in a lump sum.Answered on August 5, 2014flag this answer
