   If your employer sponsors an employee group benefit plan, the odds are that short term disability is incorporated into the plan and can’t be canceled unless you withdraw from the plan completely. If you have individual disability insurance and you control the policy as the policy owner, you can cease making payments. But be advised disability insurance is paycheck protection against periods of disability, so consult with your financial adviser before canceling valuable coverage.
