What Is A Critical Illness Insurance Policy?
- 1305 POINTSview profileNeil SteinmanOwner, Orange County Health & Life Insurance,A critical illness policy pays cash directly to you if you are diagnosed with one of the illnesses listed in the policy. Illnesses generally include heart attack, cancer, stroke and others. The cash is yours to spend however you wish. You can pay your rent or mortgage, your Visa bill, your car payment, etc. while you're recovering. Perhaps it will replace lost income. You can also pay your deductible and other out-of-pocket expenses if you wish. You could even use it to go to Disneyland - it's YOUR money! So while your health insurance is paying the doctors and hospitals, the critical illness policy is paying YOU.Answered on June 7, 2013flag this answer

Indemnification policies like Aflac's Cancer and Catastrophic Illness policies, which are basically supplemental policies that pay cash tot eh policy holder. Then there are Critical Illness and Long Term Care riders that can be added to a life insurance policy that will pay up to 75% or 90% of the death benefit in advance in the case of critical illness.Answered on September 13, 2015flag this answer
