Rates vary from carrier to carrier and geographic location to geographic location. There are many factors that used to help determine your auto insurance premium. Every carrier has set it's own standards as to the risks that they are willing to take on as a company within an area. If you feel that your rates are higher than they should be then contact other agents in your area to find out how their rates stack up to your current rates.

Generally speaking, yes, car insurance premiums tend to be higher for younger less experienced drivers. Certainly rates can vary between companies, but paying a bit more for your youthful driver should be something for which you plan. Talk to your Insurance Professional about taking advantage of any available discounts. Your company may offer such discounts for your young driver attending and graduating from a Drivers Ed class. Keeping their grades at "B" or better may also help. If you have less cars than drivers, your child could qualify for "Occasional Driver" rates.
