   While no one expects to be in an accident, it does happen, even to the best drivers.  If you injure someone and you are at fault you have a legal and moral responsibility to that person.  By requiring auto insurance the states are making sure that those who drive are willing to accept financial responsibility.  Driving is a privilege not a right.
