Who Pays Excess On Car Insurance?
- 1370 POINTSview profileJack HellerOwner, Insurance Browser,Your question stumps me a bit, but maybe I am on the right track to talk about umbrellas and Excess UM. If you have an auto policy and want coverage beyond the limits of the policy, it makes sense to buy an umbrella policy. Personal Umbrella policies range form 1 to 10 million and beyond , but are not as pricey as many would think. The coverage sits on top of your auto and homeowners and protects you for a loss exceeding your primary policy.Pricing on a $1 million dollar umbrella might start as low as $175. If you understand the need for an Umbrella than you should understand that if the situation is revered and you are the party that is the victim of an at fault party who does not have enough coverage , you can remedy that type of situation by buying Excess Uninsured Motorist Coverage usually sold in the same increments and often on the same policy as an umbrella .Answered on December 22, 2013flag this answer
