What Is Stacked Vs Unstacked Auto Insurance?
- 14231 POINTSview profileTom SheehanAgency Owner, The Thomas G Sheehan Agency, 27 Glen Road Sandy Hook, CT 06482This usually refers to Uninsured/Under insured Motorist coverage in your auto policy. In states that allow "stacking" this means that if you have say $300,000 of uninsured/under insured motorist coverage, and you have 4 vehicles on your policy, if you have to open a claim, the total resulting settlement may be based upon the amount of stated coverage multiplied by the number of cars you insure with your company. In this case, your settlement could be up to $1.2 million. Many states like Connecticut, did away with the stacking provision so talk to your Insurance Professional to see if it applies in your state.Answered on July 31, 2014flag this answer
