Almost all carriers recognize coverage as covering the driver first and then the vehicle. In other words if you have auto insurance coverage and are driving another persons vehicle that you are not covered under normally; your insurance carriier will more than likely be on the hook in the event of an accident that you are deemed responsible for while driving that vehicle. If you allow someone else to your vehicle that does not have their own auto coverage; once again your auto insurance carrier would more than likely be on the hook in the event of accident that they are involved in that they are deemed at fault which could affect your premium or coverage in the future.
