Car insurance does not necessarily cost more for a lease. Although liability limits typically must be at least $100,000 per person and $300,000 per occurrence, often these same limits are carried on non-leased vehicles.

Deductibles also are often required to stay at or under a specific level (often $500). Again, many customers also have those same deductibles on non-leased vehicles.

Leasing companies require that you carry somewhat higher liability coverage in addition to both Comprehensive and Collision.  So if you have been used to carrying lower liability and have had an older car without Collision, and you replace that car with a new leased vehicle, then you will see a premium increase.
