In most states, you are required by law to carry auto insurance if you own and drive a car.  The mandatory coverages are usually bodily injury and property damage liability as well as personal injury coverage.  This is to be sure that, if you get into an accident, there is money to pay for any damage to persons or property as well as any injuries sustained in the accident.  Coverage for damage to your car is normally an optional coverage although it may be required by a finance company or leasing company.

A good agent can help you chose the right coverage for your particular situation.  Find an agent you can trust and follow their advice.  You'll be glad you did.

Yes, auto insurance is required by law. Driving is a privilege and not a right and if a driver is too immature to handle an auto he is going to soon buy a new pair of shoes because they will not be able to get insurance much less afford it. Every driver on the road has a responsiblity to the other driver to assuree they follow all driving rules and regulations and their actions does not endanger the other party
