    You need to have insurance by the time you drive off the lot.

    If you're replacing or adding a car on your policy, you usually have 30 days to alert your company to the change.  Of course, it's better to get it done sooner.  If anything happens, you want your company to be aware of current circumstances so they can process things more expeditiously.
