How Do I Know My Auto Insurance Agent Isn’t Ripping Me Off
- 16470 POINTSview profileDavid OsgoodAgent, Rural Mutual Insurance Co., Union Grove, WIYou would have to call the company that you have your coverage through if is not listed on your billing statement. I really hate to say this, but if you don't know who your agent is then maybe it is time to find a new agent. You should be hearing from your agent once a year, if nothing else just so that they can make certain that you are still properly covered.Answered on May 14, 2013flag this answer

I guess I'd wonder why you think they would, but there are a couple of things that you can do to get an idea if they are. The first would be to get some quotes from other companies, and compare what you're being charged. If there is a big difference, then you'd want to find out why. The second would be to go to your State's department of Insurance website, and check out their record. Are there complaints? Any history of misdeeds? If you really feel like the agent is taking advantage of you, then talk to someone, preferably the agent, and if that doesn't work, get another policy from somewhere else, and drop that one. I hope that helps, thanks for asking!Answered on August 27, 2014flag this answer

McNeil Insurance Services, Fresno, CaliforniaAs long as premiums you pay are reaching an “admitted” insurance company, the agent is probably not “ripping you off.” A telephone call to the insurance company can confirm that. If you feel you are being charged for coverages that you didn’t want, most companies will make the adjustments over the telephone. If you discover that the agent has not paid for your policy, call the state insurance commissioner.Answered on September 24, 2014flag this answer
