Your question is really pretty vague. Cover the son, how?

Does he live at home? Is he away at school? Does he live in another residence? Is he EXCLUDED from your policy? Do you have a NAMED DRIVER tpe of policy?

Coverage can vary from State. In Texas, an insured party is defined as Named Insured (policy holder), Spouse and residents of the household. There are provisions for permissive users (you give them permission to drive your car on a TEMPORARY basis.)

When in doubt....be sure to list him as a driver on your insurance policy. This way, you will KNOW that he is covered.

If your son is a licensed driver, he should be added to your policy as a driver (even if it is only for a minimal amount of usage). If your son is a member of your household and is not of age to drive, your policy will cover him medically in the event of an accident. Everyone who is a household resident is covered under the auto insurance for medical bills. Every state has different rules when it comes to medical bills, so it is always best to get the final answer from your local insurance specialist, or your current provider. Thanks for asking!

If your son is living in your home and has a license to drive, then yes, he would be covered on your auto policy, however, he would need to be added onto your policy so that your insurance company can receive the proper premium to reflect the risk.  If on the other hand your son is an adult and living elsewhere, and he borrows your car, then yes, more than likely he is covered under your policy in most cases.  It is always a good idea to check with your Insurance Professional about the specific terms and conditions of your policy.
