Does Insurance Cover Someone Keying Your Car?
- 37376 POINTSview profileDavid G. Pipes, CLU®, RICP®Business Development Officer, T.D. McNeil Insurance Services, Fresno, CaliforniaIf by “keying” you mean scratching the exterior of your car using a key, the answer depends upon the coverage on the policy. If there is comprehensive coverage, the “vandalism” would be covered subject to the stated deductible. When you file a claim the company will direct you to either secure a quote to repair the damage or ask you to take the car to a specific repair station. Once the cost of repair is fixed they will pay you and the repair shop the agreed upon amount minus the deductible.Answered on March 19, 2014flag this answer
