Does Car Insurance Need To Be In Name Of Registered Owner?

If it is a leased vehicle, then the leasing company will need to be listed as an interested party, but the policy would still list you as the first Named Insured.Answered on January 28, 2015flag this answer

McCarthy, CLU, ChFCPresident, Insurance Associates Agency Inc., West Chester, OHThe name of the insured should appear on the policy as a first named insured to avoid some of the obvious complications with lender or leasehold interests. That said, the registered owners name doesn't necessarily have to appear on the dec page. Here is why: your wife may be listed as the policyholder but most states recognize the marital relationship as conferring the same legal rights to the unnamed spouse. This may not yet be recognized for domestic partners such as common law relationships or same sex couples. Check with a local agent or your state department of insurance for localized information you can bank on.Answered on February 1, 2015flag this answer
