Does Car Insurance Go On Your Credit Report?
- 255 POINTSview profileDave LinPrincipal, Linwood Forest Insurance Group, PennsylvaniaWhen you apply to buy insurance, most insurance companies will take your credit into consideration. It is considered a "soft hit". It will show up on your credit history that there was an inquiry, it doesn't change or effect your credit. So whatever your credit score was before you apply for insurance is what it will be after applying. To my knowledge, California is one of the states that mandates insurance companies not take a person's credit history into consideration when rating the premium. You can check with an insurance agent or broker licensed in your state to see if your state as the same rules.Answered on July 5, 2014flag this answer
