Does Auto Insurance Pay For Repairs?
- 16470 POINTSview profileDavid OsgoodAgent, Rural Mutual Insurance Co., Union Grove, WIAuto insurance will typically cover for repairs to a vehicle caused by an accident that you are deemed resposible for if you have collision or other than collision coverage less the deductible. If you are not deemed at fault in the accident then typically the liability coverage of the auto insurance policy of the person deemed at fault would typcially pay for the repairs for the vehicle caused by the accident. If the person deemed at fault does not have insurance coverage then your Uuninsured or underinsured coverage (if you have them on your policy) would typically cover the loss. Please read over your policy completely to understand the coverage provided and exclusions that there may be.Answered on June 8, 2013flag this answer

McNeil Insurance Services, Fresno, CaliforniaThere are repairs that are caused by fair wear and tear, such as a sticky transmission. These repairs are not covered by auto insurance. There are accumulated dings and dents to the body of the vehicle and while these could be a claim, the deductible usually discourages reporting these losses. An auto policy covers you when as a result of an accident there is damage or if there is some other event, such as a falling tree that damages your vehicle. In those cases you should file a claim.Answered on November 12, 2014flag this answer
