    Yes, it does in many cases.  Liability coverage from your personal auto policy extends over to the trailer.  If for any reason there is a mishap and, for example, the hitch breaks or the trailer comes loose for some other reason and hits something or someone causing damage or injury, the Liability coverage will be there for you.  However, if you want to have coverage for the trailer itself, then it will have to be added to your personal auto policy.  Just like your cars, then, there would be physical damage protection on the trailer and  a separate deductible would apply.
