Also if you are buying a car on payments most dealers will verify you have insurance in place before they let you off the lot. Make sure you call your local agent for quotes on your new car.Answered on May 7, 2013flag this answer

Generally the dealer will give you the car if you have paid the full price. Some agencies are set up to handle every aspect of the registration process and that is where you encounter the requirement for auto insurance. However, once the car is sold and paid for it would probably not require insurance to leave the lot.Answered on June 25, 2014flag this answer

In almost every case, it is a requirement for you to have insurance on the vehicle that you drive. When purchasing a new car, generally a quick phone call to your agent with the vehicle information will be enough o get a temporary, or even a permanent policy issued that will allow you to drive the vehicle off the lot. I've personally been in dealerships where there are insurance agents on the lot that were happy to sell you a (expensive) policy. Thanks for asking!Answered on June 26, 2014flag this answer
