Typically the local agent does not have any control over the rates that you pay for your auto insurance coverage. There are very few carriers that provide the local agent with flexibility on the commission that they receive from the sale of a policy which could provide for some adjustment in your rate if the agent would be willing to earn less commission on the sale of the policy.

You may be able to with some independant agencies that allow an agent to change the amount of comission that they receive for a policy. The amount that this can your premium will typically be minimal. Typically your premium for your auto insurance will remain pretty standard with a specific carrier within a specific geographic location. It would be better to shop your coverage with other carriers rather than try to negotiate your rates.
