Can You Keep Insurance Money From Car Accident?
- 7647 POINTSview profileMark Bartlett CLCSBranch Owner, TWFG Insurance Services, Fremont California and the Greater Bay Area Representing Dozens of Insurance CarriersYour not supposed to keep the money the insurance company paid out for a repair. In most cases the insurance company will write a check either directly to the body shop or to both parties to guarantee the repairs are done. If the claim is minor the Insurance company may write a check directly to the insurance who then has the car repaired. If you chose not to repair the damages and keep the money I can pretty much guarantee if the damage occurs again in the same area you will be denied coverage for not fixing the damage in the first place. The insurance company will say the damage was pre-existing.Answered on November 14, 2013flag this answer
