Typically the lesser the amount of time for your term of coverage the more costly your coverage will be.     Yes you can. In the old days you could actually get a 3 year policy. Companies prefer shorter contract periods so that can raise your rates quicker to improve their profitability and it gives them more opportunities to "clean their book of business" (either getting rid of you or getting rid of your insurance agency). You can actually get monthly contract plans that expire in 30 days or you can get monthly payments on your six or 12 month contracts. However, if you cancel early then they have the right to keep 10% of the unearned policy charges. Example, your 6 month policy cost $600. You cancelled after two months so you would get $400 less $40 (10%) plus if you have paid a policy or agency set up fee all of that is gone. Check your state laws on what policy fees you can be charged and refunded
