    Generally your personal auto insurance policy extends to the temporary use of a rental car in the US and territories.  That said, if you own an older car and do not insure it for collision coverage, you will not have collision coverage on the rental car.  You would want to include the coverage on your rental agreement.  You should check with your insurance professional to avoid costly problems later!
