You may switch auto insurance carriers in the middle of a policy term. In most cases the premiums are pro-rated back to you but I would always double check with the carrier. In some cases, especially in the non-standard market carriers will short rate the policy meaning there is a certain amount of premium earned to the company they will hold back. Call your local agent to discuss.
