Can I Put My Brother On My Car Insurance?

    Auto insurance is on the automobile not the driver.  The automobile is linked to the household of the primary insured and in California the policy is a “family” policy covering all members of the household.  If your brother is in the household you don’t need to add him, he is already included.  You should notify your insurance company that your brother is in the household.  If he is not in your household he may operate your vehicle since coverage follows the vehicle.
