    In general terms, annuities are personal property. Personal property is under the control of the annuity policy owner. There are gifting laws both annual under the proper use of the unified credit. So deferred annuities can be gifted to another or non profit organization. Some annuity owners change their beneficiaries to extend or stretch the benefit for income scenarios in lieu of gifting.
