    If the rental agreement that you signed with the landlord states that you will secure renters insurance during your time renting the property then yes they can require you to have renters insurance. Renters insurance is something that every renter should have. It is typically very low cost and if you purchase auto and renter coverage with the same company the discount for the auto it can lessen the cost of the renters coverage to almost nothing.
