   Rules vary from state to state. I am an agent in  California and the answer is an absolute yes. If you  are at-fault in an accident you will be surcharged for that accident under the  California proposition  103 guidelines. Driving record is a major rating factor in California. In other states there may be a little more leniency  Talk to your local agent about how an accident may effect your rates.
