From the onset of filing my water damage claim I have been met with resistance from the adjuster . This happened on 2/14/14, I was told to take pictures and get information on how damages were done. I explained to the adjuster that mold had grown on items, to which he stated that my policy didn’t cover that. I called the 800 number and was told that on page 45 (amended) of my declaration that it was covered. I was sent a copy of policy. I was told I was only covered under wind and or hail. Facility stated that that was the cause. Those were done. Next a restoration team was selected, the GM called and stated that adjuster told him to look for things that had mold on them. I have filed a water damage claim for items in my storage unit that were involved in another claim that has been settled. In the previous claim my items were damaged by rain, mold and mildew in another unit same storage facility. I have since tossed or replaced items that were beyond repair. Some items were sent to a restoration company where they inventoried items. The cost to clean them exceeded the coverage so I had them in storage until I could do something with them. In the meanwhile I have had water damage in the other new unit. I called insurance company and told adjuster that since I had no room at my home the items remained in the storage unit.I told adjuster what happened how much I thought “my items were valued at”. I didn’t tell adjuster that items were from a previous claim that is being stored, he didn’t ask. I acted in good faith by reporting what happened but omitted that items were from a previous claim..A restoration team were sent out and told adjuster that the because of the damages to items they had to wait for permission to start . I was unaware that it was the “same”restoration company that they used the first time ,they used another name. A field ? loss ? adjuster came to inspect the unit. I told him I didn’t mention that the items were from an old claim, because I felt that with all of the delay tactics that this claim would not be honored. Now, he is alluding about falsification on said claim. I omitted the fact that items were from another claim because I have water damages to this unit to which I was under the impression that these were two different claims. If I wanted be dishonest I could have hired my own restoration company and not used theirs. That was not my intention , I filed a claim honestly and in good faith. The storage facility admitted that the damages came from wind and water damages which my policy covers. I have submitted photos of inside the unit. An employee of the restoration team stated he heard water dripping in the old unit from where damages occurred. The GM from the same company stated the we have had a lot of bad weather in the past months to the field, loss adjuster. I feel that the adjuster is using all sorts of deceptive ways to deny a legitimate claim. I apologize for the length of post , but I wanted to give as much detail as possible. Thanks for listening.
Can I file a claim for water damages for items that were in storage from a claim that has been settled before?
