    The answer is typically yes, but there are some Caveats> The typical renters policy is based on the ISO, Insurance Service Office developed HO 4 policy. So in effect a renters policy is more or less a homeowners policy without the house. Renters policies typically have a Section Two Liability Coverage which you review as to the limit of coverage and if there any significant restriction. Since dog bites are increasingly a major frequency issue for insurers, some have taken the position of carving out a restriction of coverage if certain dogs, dog breeds or size does not meet their standards. In Canada their are some Provinces have determined certain breeds to be against public policy and while they have not gone to putting down any dog of those breeds, but have taken the position that no new dog of certain breeds can be housed in that Province.
