If the reason for using an ambulance was to obtain immediate treatment for a life threatening condition, the charges will most likely be covered. The bigger catch is finding a transport company that accepts assignment.Answered on September 10, 2013+01 0+1 this answerflag this answerview more answers by Bob Vineyard

Medicare will cover 80% of your ambulance ride if it is a medical emergency and every second counts getting you to a hospital for treatment. There are some non-emergency reasons that Medicare will cover an ambulance ride. If Medicare disagrees with your decision to use an ambulance you will be responsible for 100% of the charges. In other words do not use an ambulance as an alternate method of transportation if it is not a medical emergency.Answered on February 20, 2016flag this answer
